What do I need to have to rent equipment?
All you need to rent equipment is a valid Drivers Licence or State ID Card and a credit or debit card for payment and rental deposit.  Prepaid cards are not acceptable for rental deposits.
When will you charge my credit card?
We will ask you how long you anticipate needing the rental equipment for when you come to rent the equipment.  We will charge your card for the total rental amount based on the length of time you estimate.  When you bring the equipment back you will be credited for any overcharges, or charged for any balance due.  The longer you keep the equipment the more expensive the rental will be, so it is in your best interest to return the equipment promptly!  If you keep the rental equipment more than a day longer than the original estimated length of time we may charge your card for the accumulating balance on a daily basis.
How long can I keep the rental equipment?
You may keep the rental equipment as long as you need to in order to complete your project!  We ask that you please provide a close estimate of how long you will need the equipment when you place your rental order so that we have an idea of when we can expect the equipment returned.  We ask that if you plan on keeping the equipment longer than originally expected that you please call us to let us know.  The longer you keep the equipment the more expensive the rental will be, so it is in your best interest to return the equipment promptly!
I rented a piece of equipment for 4 hours but I need it a little longer.  Will I be charged for the whole day if I keep the equipment for longer than 4 hours?
This depends on how long you decide to keep the equipment for.  The rental rate will be prorated on an hourly basis after your 4 hour rental period ends.
 Can I make a reservation for a piece of equipment?
Yes, we do accept reservations for equipment.  Reservations are non-cancellable and non-refundable.  We require a 50% prepayment to be made on the reservation to secure the equipment for your requested date.  All reservations begin at 8:00am for the day of your choosing.  For example, if you reserve a piece of equipment for Friday, the rental will begin Friday at 8:00am even if you do not pick it up until 9:30am.  Your billable time with the equipment still begins at 8:00am.  Reservations not picked up by 10:00am will be considered a no-show.  No-shows will forfeit their prepayment and may not be re-scheduled for a later date.
Do I need to clean the equipment before I return it?
Yes, we ask that you please make a reasonable effort to clean excess dirt off of the equipment before you return it.  Please do not disassemble any part of the rental equipment to clean--our staff will do a thorough cleaning of the equipment once it is returned. Just do your best to clean off dirt on the exterior of the equipment.  Use a garden hose to rinse off dirt and mud, or use a rag to wipe off grease or oil.  Customers who return excessively dirty equipment may be charged a cleaning fee.
Do I need to fill the gas tank up before I return the equipment?
Most of our power equipment includes a free tank of gas with the rental.  The only exception is "metered equipment" or equipment with an hour meter that measures how long the equipment ran for, such as skid steers.  You are responsible for returning any metered equipment full of fuel.  If you are unsure if the equipment you are renting is metered equipment please feel free to call us and ask!
Do you offer delivery and pickup service?
We absolutely do!  Please give us a call for a delivery and pickup quote based on your project's location.
What is the damage waiver?
The damage waiver is an additional 10% charge which covers accidental damage to rental equipment while in the customer's possession.  It does not cover theft, vandalism, tire damage on trailers, or damage resulting from negligent action.  You may choose to decline the damage waiver; however you will be held financially responsible for any and all damage which may happen to the rental equipment while in your possession and all costs associated with said damage will be charged to your credit card.  Commercial customers will need to provide a Certificate of Insurance naming DeKalb Tool Rental as Additional Insured before declining the damage waiver.
Do you accept cash or personal checks?
We do not accept personal checks.  We only accept business checks from local businesses who have an existing account.  We do accept cash as payment, however we do require a credit card to be used for the deposit on the rental.  This means that your credit card will be charged for the total rental when you pick up the rental equipment.  If you would like to pay cash when you return the equipment we will be happy to refund your credit card.
